When good roads go BAD...

I spent a bit of time in the far reaches of Western NC today looking at a couple potential projects and saw some beautiful...

And some ugly things. It has rained for the last six weeks in the area and the saturated ground had decided it had had enough in some spots.

Rich whenever I see head cutting I think of you so I figured you would like this photo.

Finally the sum of lots of water and a broken root structure is...DOH!

Happy Holidays

The Blog will be quite for a couple weeks while I get some time for Friends and Family. After the New Year the blog will become a much more textured site. The plan is to travel full time next year and have consistent internet connectivity. Also, I have a new number, don't have it? Send me an email.

And to all a good night...

Santos done and the year wrapping up.

Well, only about two weeks to go. 2008 is coming to a close and I can't imagine it ending on a better note than Santos.

I will be finishing up the year getting ready for next one. Keep an eye on here and you will surely see something you like.

Happy Holidays,
Ben

Santos...Naturally...

I love this place. I am down here working on a pump track and a few other odds and ends for a bit. What a great time to be in Florida. The next two pictures are of the prep work leading up to the construction. My week was frustrating at best and my weekend was FANTASTIC at worst. The local club here OMBA is amazing, I feel like they are family to me. Thanks guys. Click on the link to see the slideshow from the weekend. 20 plus people both Saturday and Sunday, this is how you get things done.

Dirt in place at the site.

Getting the dump truck put together, LEGOs for big kids.

Finally one of the objectives on this little mission was to look over the Vortex area and think about a few changes the locals wanted, and how to fix a few little vandalism problems. Check out this stream of conscientiousness poetry some kid wrote on the long ladder on the Redr Trail, creativity begetting creativity.

Closing a chapter...

arfreeriders.com

Today is catch up. This will mark the end of a very busy push to work through the fall. First, an awesome discovery, fire hoses and the fire department make a spectacular water source. Dump 1500 gallons easily onto a park over a cup of coffee.

Now the hard truth. Projects over 2 weeks in the spring or fall get rain. Its not the water that seems to hurt as much as the momentum kill on the project. This is one to be thought heavily about through the winter. Over the next week it is catching up on the work at hand and trying to outfit the new truck for Santos. Photos of this to come. For now I leave you with the photo. I don't know why but there is an epic in the making.
